Week 8 (Period End of Sentence)

Period end of sentence. I remember the first time that I had watched this short film, I was sat in a room with my mother and sister. The stories about these women who did not have access to life necessities and were shamed into not talking about the natural and normal functions of their bodies were extremely saddening. I then asked my mother if she had seen anything like this growing up. My mother was born in Asmara, Eritrea (East Africa). I asked her if they had access to these materials. She said what she went through was nowhere near what those women went through. In her country, these supplies were available to you, but the catch is only if you could afford it. In a way (on a smaller scale) that is really similar to the situation here in the U.S. Many women in the country simply do not have enough money to purchase any period-related topics. The products are expensive enough without factoring in the Pink Tax. Overall as most of us know these products should be easily available to us, if not free.
